SOSLAB’s ultra-small LiDAR sensors come with a fully solid LiDAR structure that operates as a fixed type without a driving motor. Its solid-state LiDAR solutions combine vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) technology and single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD), offering a wide range of benefits, including high durability, adaptable field-of-view design, headlampoptimized structure, lower price range, wide-angle shortrange and narrow-angle long-distance modules, and mass production capabilities.

SOSLAB is the best headlamp LiDAR solution provider in the market for automotives and has been engaged in joint sales and development with leading global headlamps Tier-1 and OEMs since 2021.

The disaster safety solutions offered by SOSLAB— Mobility LiDAR series––use 3D LiDAR sensors that can identify images, provide object recognition and tracking, and are built with a warning alarm for overcrowded places. Its GL series industrial solutions leverage 2D LiDAR sensors to assist with area scanning and obstacle detection. The solution also secures safe distances between transfer robots at industrial sites.

SOSLAB’s 2D LiDAR sensors are also leveraged for the autonomous driving of smart factory unmanned transfer robots for wafer transfer equipment. In one instance, its services were solicited by a local Korean semiconductor firm to commercialize 2D LiDAR sensors for wafer-transferring equipment. SOSLAB’s team stepped in and secured mass production technology by automating manual calibration and performance evaluation processes. Its localized 2D LiDAR sensors will help semiconductor plants in Korea to replace annual imports of 4,000 sensor units for semiconductor wafer transfer equipment. SOSLAB’s solution is designed to offer improved frame rate and resolution compared to the existing foreign sensors used in global semiconductor factories in Korea to enable high-speed driving of overhead hoist transport systems.

Numerous factories in Korea currently use transfer robots that utilize 2D sensors imported from Japan and Germany. However, Japan’s export regulations and the lack of prompt service from these countries have become a bottleneck for many companies. Foreseeing this, SOSLAB has been conducting joint development exercises to replace imported sensors with domestic products. Currently, it has delivered a sensor developed in partnership with a company using Japanese products and has been nominated as a mass production supplier for them from 2023.

SOSLAB’s high-resolution LiDAR with perception and tracking software makes cities and factory infrastructure smarter. In Solaseado smart city, it has implemented security/safety solutions, metaverse services, and infrastructural self-driving solutions by installing 50 units of LiDAR combined street lights. Focused on transforming Solaseado into the world’s largest smart city, SOSLAB aims to install 300 units by 2024. Assuming that more than 50 local provinces, including Ggyunggido, will foster smart city business by 2027, LiDAR demand in the market will increase as the years go by.

Competing with LiDAR solution providers from Israel, the U.S., and Germany, SOSLAB’s solutions offer numerous advantages in terms of performance, price, size, and quality. Its extensive LiDAR R&D workforce comprises researchers and Ph.D. and master’s degree holders who have developed related technologies at various organizations, such as Samsung Electronics, Doosan, Hanwha, Continental, and ABB.

SOSLAB is the first LiDAR company in Asia to have completed the development of solid-state LiDAR and is preparing for mass production with active alignment equipment development and ISO certification.
