Juice Technology Integrates Active Temperature Sensor into Household Sockets

Juice Technology AG is tackling this issue by incorporating the JUICE CELSIUS temperature sensor technology that it already uses in its Schuko plugs into its household plugs for use in Switzerland (T12/T13), Italy (Type L), and the United Kingdom (Type L) (Type G).

FREMONT, CA: Juice Technology AG, the market leader in portable chargers for electric cars and a manufacturer of electric charging stations and software, has now integrated its patented JUICE CELSIUS temperature sensor into its household plug adapters for Switzerland, Italy, and the United Kingdom to ensure safe, secure, and worry-free charging. E-vehicles are often recharged in places where they are parked for prolonged periods, normally at work or at home, and sometimes from a normal wall socket if a higher voltage plug is not available. Household plug outlets, on the other hand, are not equipped to handle the heavy continuous-current loads needed for e-car charging.

This lower potential is compounded by the fact that older buildings are not necessarily well-wired or have faulty electrical systems, which is why charging will easily overheat the socket and spark a fire in the worst-case scenario. Also, socket outlets that have been polluted over time due to dust ingress will overheat and catch fire.

Juice Technology AG is tackling this issue by incorporating the JUICE CELSIUS temperature sensor technology that it already uses in its Schuko plugs into its household plugs for use in Switzerland (T12/T13), Italy (Type L), and the United Kingdom (Type L) (Type G). This patented solution ensures that charging operations are completely secure and efficient, even when using standard household plugs. All of these fully revamped household adapters have been tested and approved according to the VDE Association for Electrical, Mechanical, and Information Systems in Germany. The right-angled cable-entry configuration stops power-socket housings from wearing out and being loose due to tensile and pressure forces.

Simple communication via the JUICE CONNECTOR

The JUICE CONNECTOR plug connection links the integrated temperature sensor to the JUICE BOOSTER 2 charging station. If the plug detects any possible overheating, it sends a signal to the mobile charging station, regulating the charging operation. This removes any possible harm to the power socket or the batteries of an electric car.

The charging operation continues until the temperature of the overheated pins has returned to normal. Three re-starts, including one at a lower charging power, ensure that your car is fully charged by morning, no matter what happens. If the plug overheats on the third try, the charging period is aborted completely to ensure customer safety. The JUICE CELSIUS temperature sensor is now included in all Schuko, T12/T13, Type-G, and Type-L adapters of the JUICE BOOSTER 2 at no added expense to the consumer: set prices to remain unchanged.
