With the vast advancement in cloud technology, big data analytics, and big data analytics, , automotive manufacturing is trending. These innovations are changing how manufacturers approach designs and efficiency and also the client interaction and their experience.  It is necessary for the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to build a new business model to stay competitive in this ever-growing environment. 

Major giants like Uber, AiBnB, and others have embraced internet technologies to provide a more personalized experience to its users. As consumers get comfortable with the web-based services, manufacturers are looking forward to introducing new platforms within their products across numerous consumer engagement dimensions.

Connected Manufacturing

Automotive advancements include driver-assistance systems like automatic emergency braking, comfort functions like gesture control and Remote Park control thereby enhancing the driving experience. Companies are collaborating with their partners to create virtual automotive centers that can leverage the cloud technology, AI and big data to produce faster results. The three critical drivers for Connected Manufacturing are:

1.  Cloud Innovation: This technology enables manufacturers to optimize their public, private or hybrid cloud offerings depending upon the automaker’s business needs.  The manufacturers’ software needs are supported by a digital thread enabling the process from idea creation prototyping, testing, and market launch. Automakers and their associates are building products faster with increased personalization, driven by client demand and supported by digitization.

2.  Big Data: Advanced analytics assist manufacturers with the huge amount of data thereby improving their testing activities, better managing their supply chains, anticipating and understanding consumer needs and optimizing prices on products.

3.  AI is on its way: AI is also optimizing supply chain optimization and production capabilities.  The impact of AI in manufacturing is likely to usher in a whole new era of industrial development and AI will be the driver of another revolution known as ‘’Industries 4.0.’’ If the principles of industries 4.0 are applied, the result could be reduced defect rates, fewer returns, and warranty claims and increased safety for employees and customers.
