The Many Benefits of Electric Vehicles

By Auto Tech Outlook | Wednesday, February 17, 2021

By opting to drive an electric vehicle, one can reduce the toxic air pollution caused by exhaust emissions. The EV has zero exhaust pollution and emits a degree of greenhouse gas emissions when charged from the power grid.

FREMONT, CA: As Electric Vehicles (EVs) become more prevalent, prices are declining quickly, and there is a wide range of advantages for drivers looking to make the switch. From the environmental effects to the savings one can create on gasoline, tax, and maintenance costs, electric vehicles can help save large sums of money.

Following are some benefits of EVs.

Cheaper to Run

The cost of electricity used to charge the EV is about 40 percent lower than the price of using fuel for a comparable size vehicle at the same distance. The cost will be smaller if one charges their EV from the solar PV device or a free charging station.

Inexpensive to Maintain

Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) has fewer moving parts than traditional petrol/diesel vehicles. Service is comparatively fast, less regular, and, generally, cheaper than a petrol/diesel engine.  All EV batteries are depleted (become less efficient). Most carmakers warrant that EV batteries will not degrade below a certain amount for around eight years. It will become essential to repair the EV battery when you own it. Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) often have a petrol or diesel engine that has to be serviced, so PHEVs would cost more to run than BEVs.

Affordable to Register

One government offers a discount on the stamp duty on purchasing an EV plus continuing registration discounts.

Better for the environment

Less pollution: By opting to drive an EV, one can reduce the toxic air pollution caused by exhaust emissions. The EV has zero exhaust pollution and emits a degree of greenhouse gas emissions when charged from the power grid.

Renewable Energy: If one has a solar PV system and charge the EV during the day, the greenhouse gas emissions will be lowered even more. Another option is to buy GreenPower from the energy supplier. Then, even if one recharges the EV from the power grid, the electricity comes from renewable energy sources.

Better for the Health

Reduced toxic exhaust emissions are positive news for the environment. Improved air quality would lead to fewer respiratory issues and lower air emissions costs. Vehicles are also cleaner than petrol/diesel automobiles, which ensures fewer noise emissions.
