Latest Automotive Technologies to Transform the Way People Drive

By Auto Tech Outlook | Friday, February 15, 2019

The trends in digital transformation have brought about tremendous changes in various sectors, such as healthcare, finance, retail, and media and entertainment. The automotive industry is one of the industries in which the digital transformation has brought revolution. The industry has had major technology companies in recent years that provide the most advanced, safe, and comfortable vehicles.

Companies like LG and Microsoft have recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop automotive technologies. The companies will work together to empower car manufacturers to deliver differentiated mobility experiences, create new services, and income opportunities.

LG will use the Azure cloud and AI technology from Microsoft to develop its digital platform for the vehicle sector. The Azure AI platform also features an AI infrastructure of enterprise quality that runs AI workloads on a scale everywhere. Modern AI tools designed for developers and data scientists help them with maximum productivity to create AI solutions. LG will use the expertise of Microsoft's AI to enhance its Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), Driver-Status Monitoring Camera (DSM), and Multi-Purpose Front Camera.

In order to help drivers and passengers, the Microsoft Virtual Assistant Solution Accelerator will be integrated into LG infotainment systems. Microsoft's technology will also constantly improve self-driving software. LG plans to use high-performance computing and Microsoft Azure-supported GPUs to support its self-driving software further. It is noted that these technologies would reduce the time required to learn and adapt the software and analyze patterns that would only take several minutes using Azure.

The LG-Microsoft MOU will help autonomous vehicles get to the roads very soon. It is anticipated that assisted driving technology will be as effective as in the next ten years to reduce accidents and reduce insurance costs. It is clear that automotive technologies can dramatically change the way people drive and increase automotive safety. The increase in electric vehicle technology helps reduce carbon emissions without breaking the bank, as more companies design electric motor vehicles. The automotive industry is expected to advance further in the coming years, bringing people closer to a more connected and digitized environment.
